Has a revised Tesla Model 3 been spotted in California here? New cameras on the headlights?

As we have already reported, there could very likely be a revised variant of the Tesla Model 3 in the second half of 2023. Internally, the revised version should be called “Highland”. Now a new Tesla Model 3 prototype with camouflage has been sighted in California. With the Tesla Model 3 it was noticeable that the front and rear in particular were covered with a special tarpaulin. Contours and individual parts could not be seen. Thanks to the camouflage, which even covers large parts of the headlights, not much can be seen in the pictures. However, if you look closely, you might see a new camera on the outer corners of the headlights. These are very difficult to see, but it would make sense to place a camera in this spot since Tesla's current self-driving sensors have a blind spot around the bumper. It could also help with forward parking, as the ultrasonic sensors have already been canceled and the system is set to be camera-based in the future. But the cameras would also be extremely useful to see the traffic before turning in full self-driving. This is exactly what the current FSD still has problems with. Tesla has always announced that it will keep improving its autopilot and full self-driving hardware.

With the introduction of the Tesla Model Y, Tesla started stamping the body out of the new Giga Press. In the future, Tesla would like to go one step further with the Model Y and introduce the so-called "Structural Battery Pack”. Tesla has already announced that it will also use this new technology in the Model 3 at some point. but not mentioned yet. With the update of the Tesla Model 3 this could be introduced now. This can save Tesla costs and time in production in the long term.

The biggest problem is that such a big update to Model 3 would temporarily slow down production. This is precisely the step Tesla cannot afford while production of the Model Y has not yet fully ramped up. However, the Model Y is now beginning to outstrip the Model 3 in production, and it may be a good time for Tesla to upgrade the Model 3 with this technology.
