The current Tesla-referral program (also Tesla referral program), which has been in place in its current form since the beginning of 2023, is a Tesla self-organized program that allows Teslaowners to refer new customers (friends or acquaintances) via a referral link and receive so-called credits in return, which can then be exchanged for rewards. If someone uses this link to make a qualified Tesla product or books a test drive via this link, the referrer receives credits as a reward. These points can be exchanged for various attractive rewards, including free Supercharging, accessories or software upgrades for the vehicle.
To participate in this program, existing customers must meet certain criteria. This includes owning a Tesla Model S, 3, X, Y. Via the Loot Box in the Tesla app, the referral link can be generated and sent to the relevant person. A maximum of 12 links for orders and 60 links for test drives can be generated per calendar year. In addition, the buyer who uses the corresponding link receives their reward, but not the referrer. There are currently 2,500 credits for a completed recommendation, regardless of the vehicle, and 100 credits for a recommended test drive. In addition, there is not only a bonus for referring a new customer, but also a loyalty bonus. If you already have a Tesla and order a new one via your account, you will automatically receive 15,000 credits as a thank you for your loyalty.
The program also offers benefits for buyers who order a vehicle via a referral link. They can currently benefit from 3 months of Enhanced Autopilot (EAP). The extension enables advanced autopilot functions such as automatic lane changing. If you buy the package for lifetime use of the vehicle, this upgrade costs 3,800 euros. However, it should be noted that the buyer must be a new customer and order the vehicle directly via the referral link. It is not possible to add the referral link at a later date.
If the referral link has been used, you will receive a corresponding notification by e-mail to let you know when the link has been used. Once the vehicle has been successfully delivered, you will receive another email informing you that the credits have been credited to your account. If a test drive has been booked, the credits will be credited shortly after completion of the test drive. The collected credits with the corresponding expiry date can be viewed at any time in the Loot Box. Credits are generally valid for up to 12 months from the date of allocation. If you earn additional points, the expiration date for all your credits will be extended by 12 months from the last allocation date. To extend the expiry date of all points, the delivery date must be before the expiry date of your previous points.
The accumulated credit points can then be used in the Tesla Loot Box for various rewards. These include free supercharging (selectable between 1,500 and 5,000 kilometers), vehicle accessories and software upgrades such as the acceleration boost for certain Tesla models. When redeeming credit for additional Supercharger kilometers, the expiry date for all Supercharger kilometers is extended by 6 months to a maximum of 36 months.
All in all, the Tesla referral program offers attractive incentives for both the referrer and the new customer, which should definitely be taken advantage of. As the rewards and the number of credits to be earned can vary, it is advisable to check the current information directly in the Tesla app or on the Tesla website.
