As Tesla is known for, Tesla is constantly improving its models and constantly developing them with minor adjustments. It has now been announced that the Model Y models "Made in China/ Shanghai", which are currently being built and will arrive in the next few weeks, will receive two important updates. The back seat of the Tesla Model Y is now 3 cm longer on the two outer seats. The middle seat stays at the original length. This has the advantage that passengers sitting in the rear have much better support for their thighs. The lengthening doesn't sound like much, but it's very noticeable.

In addition, the Tesla Model Y is now also equipped with a mechanical emergency release for the two rear doors. Currently, these can only be found on the two front doors. This means that the doors can be opened at any time, even in the event of a power failure in the vehicle. It is not yet known exactly where the emergency release will be located. Especially with the rear doors you have to be careful that the emergency release is not so easy for children to open. On the Model S, for example, this is located under the rear seats towards the footwell. It is currently not known whether the Tesla Model 3 has also received these two changes.

A third interesting innovation will be announced personally by Elon Musk on Twitter. Elon Musk tweets that the Model 3 and Model Y (non performance) are getting revised cushioning. It is not known when this update will be implemented or when new dampers will already be installed. In our opinion, the dampers have already been changed, since the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y from China that were picked up in September show significant differences here.
