Tesla shares exclusive insights into the production of the Tesla Model Y in Grünheide!

Just under a year ago, Tesla officially and ceremoniously opened the new Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide/ Berlin. On March 22, 2022, the first 30 Tesla Model Y Performance were ceremoniously handed over to selected customers. Later, the first produced vehicles were distributed and delivered to various Tesla service centers in Germany and Europe. Since then, several new employees have been hired to increase production so significantly.

Tesla is now giving an insight into its modern production facility on its official Twitter channel through a series of short video clips. With the videos, Tesla provides insights into the punching of various sheets, the painting chamber and various work processes. The die cutter (Tesla Giga Press), for example, manages to stamp 13 different components of the Tesla Model Y into the right shape with a force of 7,800 tons. In this way, 16 body parts are produced per minute.

No less impressive is the production of the remaining chassis parts and the subsequent welding together of individual parts, which is carried out by a total of 600 robots. Another video shows the aforementioned paint chamber, which according to Elon Musk is supposed to be one of the most modern facilities in the world. A final clip shows the final production in the Gigafactory Berlin, where more than 20 automated stations and now over 1,000 employees per shift build the Tesla Model Y with the drive system, seats and electrical components.
