Tesla increases the production of 4680 cells. That's enough for up to 1000 Cybertrucks!

Recently, more and more Tesla Cybertrucks have appeared recently, which indicates that production has got off to a good start. Now Tesla confirmed that battery cell production at the Gigafactory in Texas has also been successfully ramped up to produce up to 1,000 Tesla Cybertrucks per week. Last week, enough 4680 battery cells were produced to manufacture more than 1,000 Cybertrucks. Considering that a Cybertruck has a battery pack of approx. 123 kWh, this is a considerable amount. This production rate corresponds to an annual battery cell production of over 6 GWh.

Although Tesla has not published comprehensive details on the increase in its own battery cell production, it has been announced that the production of battery cells for the Model Y has been switched to a new version developed specifically for use in Cybertrucks. In order to scale up production and meet the original specifications of the 4680 cell Tesla recently hired another semiconductor manufacturing expert to optimize battery cell production at Gigafactory Texas.

Drew Baglino, Senior Vice President of Energy Engineering at Teslaexplained at the last annual press conference that battery production is not a bottleneck for the production of the Cybertruck and that Tesla even has sufficient battery reserves for several weeks. Although no exact production figures for the Cybertruck have been announced, there are reports that production at the Gigafactory in Texas has been significantly increased, with several hundred vehicles regularly leaving the plant.
