Tesla quarterly results - Tesla delivered 435,059 vehicles in Q3!

Tesla has announced the production and delivery figures for the third quarter. In July, August and September, 430,488 vehicles were produced and 435,059 vehicles were delivered. Compared to the previous quarter, when 460,211 vehicles were produced and 446,915 vehicles were delivered, Tesla recorded a slight decrease.

Of the Model S premium sedan and Model X premium SUV, 13,688 units were produced and 15,985 units were delivered in the most recent quarter. Of the mid-size sedan Model 3 and the mid-size SUV Model Y 416,800 units rolled off the production line, of which 419,074 were delivered to customers.

In a brief statement, Tesla writes that these declines are due to "planned production pauses due to factory modernizations." It is suspected that these pauses are related, among other things, to the changeover at Gigafactory Shanghai, where series production of the revised Model 3 "Highland" has started.

Despite these challenges, the annual target of 1.8 million vehicles produced in 2023 remains unchanged. So far this year, Tesla has produced 1,350,996 vehicles and delivered 1,324,074. So to meet the annual target, Tesla would need to produce about 450,000 units in the current quarter. If the declines are indeed due to planned production pauses, this target seems achievable. Tesla will publish further information on the business results of the third quarter of 2023, including revenue and profit/loss, as well as the expected development in the further course of the year at a later date.
