After some quiet and declining new car registrations in the past few months, current registration figures are showing an increase, especially for electric cars. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, a total of 199,183 cars were newly registered in Germany in August. This is around 3 percent more than in the same month last year. Electric cars account for a share of 32,006 vehicles, which corresponds to around 11 percent. A total of 5291 Tesla vehicles were registered in August. The Tesla Model Y, which was registered 4216 times, has the largest share. The Tesla Model 3 was registered 1075 times. This puts the Tesla Model Y in 4th place of all drive types. The distance to the leader of all registrations is around 2300 vehicles. Tesla could reach the top in September, because experience has shown that most Teslas come to Europe at the end of each quarter.
Due to the high production capacity and demand of the Tesla Model Y, the number of sales and registrations will be far ahead of the Tesla Model 3 in the future. But that's not all, Tesla wants to secure the title of the best-selling car of all drives and classes worldwide with the Model Y.
