Tesla milestone: 5000 Supercharger locations worldwide!

A few weeks ago, Tesla already gave an update on the status of its own "Supercharger" fast charging network. At Easter, 45,000Tesla Superchargers were already available and now another milestone has been reached. There are now over 5,000 Supercharger locations worldwide , with the number of charging points varying depending on the location. On average, however, around ten charging points are installed per site.

The first Supercharger opened in the U.S. in September 2012, and within six years nearly 10,000 more fast-charging stations were built worldwide. By 2020, the network grew to 20,000 and by 2021 to 30,000 columns. The 40,000th Supercharger was completed at the end of last year and the 45,000th Supercharger opened in April this year.

Tesla has announced plans to triple the size of its Supercharger network over the next two years, and various new fast charging stations are also planned for Germany. According to official data from the end of 2022, Germany has the largest Supercharger charging network in Europe, with around 1,900 fast charging spots at 144 locations, followed by France with over 1,500 and Norway with over 1,400 fast charging spots.

Tesla is currently opening up its fast-charging network to electric cars from other brands and has perspective plans to make the company's charging infrastructure available to all vehicle models worldwide. It recently rolled out the latest technology for its Supercharger fast-charging network, with the first site to feature latest-generation V4 columns opening in March in Harderwijk, the Netherlands. These new columns are more powerful and have a new design.
