New Teslacustomers in the USA receive a free one-month trial period for FSD Beta 12.3.1

New Teslacustomers in the USA receive a free one-month trial period for FSD Beta 12.3.1

In the last few days, there has been a lot of talk in the USA about the latest Tesla FSD software 12.3, with some good videos showing what changes the latest software brings. Now Tesla-CEO Elon Musk has instructed his employees to offer FSD beta test drives to new customers before the vehicles are delivered. This is shown in an email published on X by "Whole Mars Catalog". "In the future, it will be mandatory in North America to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 and take customers on a short test drive before the car is delivered," Musk said in the email. It remains to be seen whether this time-consuming introduction will lead to delays in delivery and possibly a backlog of orders.

Last week published Tesla version 12.3 of the self-driving software FSD Beta, which, despite positive reviews from some beta testers, showed some notable improvements. Tesla FSD reacted quickly and made sub-version 12.3.1 available in the following days to fix the known problems.

FSD Beta v12.3.1 (2023.44.30.30) has received a lot of positive feedback from testers, which probably prompted Elon Musk to send out the above-mentioned email to install the latest version for testing purposes. However, it should be noted that this installation is only for the test drive and cannot be used by Tesla disabled until the owner purchases the $12,000 Autopilot Full Self-Driving package. "Almost no one knows how well the (supervised) FSD really works," Musk wrote in his email. He is aware that this additional task will increase the workload of the Tesla-suppliers in stores across North America. "I know this will slow down the delivery process, but it's still a tough requirement," he added. He also announced that all eligible vehicles in the U.S. will be unlocked for a free one-month trial of the Full Self-Driving Beta. The first version to be downloaded to these vehicles will be FSD Beta v12.3.1, and users will be able to receive new updates during the trial period.

This expands the FSD Beta base in the US to a relatively large audience. Even if 70% of the Tesla-owners choose to download, install and test FSD Beta 12.3.1, the user base in the US alone will be in the hundreds of thousands.
