Tesla shines in Euro NCAP 2022 as class winner with the Model Y and Model S!

Safety organization Euro NCAP announced the Best in Class vehicles for 2022 yesterday, Wednesday, January 12, 2023. The Best in Class vehicles achieved the highest overall score in their respective vehicle class, based on scores for adult occupant protection as well as child occupant protection, vulnerable person protection and safety assistance technologies. For the first time, this list also includes two vehicles from Tesla on the European market. Both the Tesla Model S and the Tesla Model Y were both honored. With a total score of 92% each and a full 5-star rating, Model S and Model Y completed their crash tests in November and September last year, respectively, with the best overall score of all vehicles tested under the new stricter Euro NCAP test protocol (since 2020).

The prize for the safest all-electric car was officially awarded to the Tesla Model S, followed by Model Y. Model S was also crowned class winner in the "Executive" category, the Model Y was awarded in the category "Small Off-Road Vehicle". Tesla thus secured victory in three of six categories. The results impressively reflect Tesla's dual approach to the development of safety-related equipment and functions, which aim to provide the best possible occupant protection in the event of an accident as well as to prevent potentially dangerous situations before they occur by using passive and active safety systems.
