Tesla recently rolled out the long-awaited software update 2024.32.30 for the first Early Access customers. This version brings some exciting new features for the FSD (Full Self-Driving) system that make the driving experience even more intuitive and safer.
In this article, you can find out everything you need to know about the update and what changes await you.
What's new in the Tesla FSD version 12.5.6?
The 2024.32.30 update brings numerous changes and improvements that are primarily aimed at a natural and safe driving style. Here is an overview of the most important new features:
Vision-Based Attention Monitoring - Now with sunglasses support
Tesla has revised the attention system. Vision-Based Monitoring now also works when you are wearing sunglasses. This system ensures that your attention is continuously monitored and the FSD system can react accordingly.
End-to-end highway monitoring
The highway monitoring has been fully integrated in this version and now covers the entire journey, from the on-ramp to the off-ramp. This means that the vehicle can make your journey more efficient and safer in all areas of the highway.
Improved lane change decisions
One of the biggest criticisms so far has been that the FSD system often changed lanes too late, especially before exits. In version 12.5.6 Tesla addressed this problem. The vehicle now makes earlier and more natural decisions to make lane changes safer and smoother.
Updated driver profiles: Chill, Standard and Hurry
Tesla has replaced the previous FSD modes with new profiles. In addition to "Chill", there is now "Standard" and the newly introduced "Hurry" profile. These offer the driver different options for how the vehicle should react in different situations:
- Chill: Drives in slower lanes and makes minimal lane changes.
- StandardSticks to the normal flow of traffic and only changes lanes when necessary.
- HurryA more aggressive mode in which the vehicle changes lanes more quickly to get you to your destination faster.
Auto Set Speed: New speed limit
Another important point is the revision of the Auto Set Speed function. It has been replaced by the Max Speed Offset, which allows you to set a maximum speed - including negative adjustments. This allows you to ensure, for example, that the vehicle remains below the maximum permitted speed, which is particularly useful in urban areas or in bad weather.
When will the update be available?
The update is currently still in the test phase for Early Access users of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y If everything goes according to plan, widespread distribution could begin in the coming weeks. Owners of a Tesla Model S or X and vehicles with Hardware 3 will have to be patient.
