Tesla has released its latest Software update 2025.2.8 which not only new features for all Tesla-modelsbut also the latest FSD version integrated. This update not only improves the full self-driving experience, but also brings further vehicle optimizationsfrom smart charging preparation to improved wiper functions for the Cybertruck.
New functions for FSD vehicles
For the first time, Tesla's FSD is based on the 2025 software version, which means that vehicles with Full Self-Driving will also have the latest Tesla-features. The most important new features include:
Hands-Free Trunk & Frunk for Android - now also for users without an iPhone
Warning signal for cross traffic when reversing - increases safety
Activation of the vehicle interior radar in the Model Y - better environment scanning
Improved charging preparation for third-party charging stations (North America)
Cybertruck improvements: Support for trailer profiles and optimized wiper control
Particularly important for FSD owners: The new version still contains FSD 12.6.4 for HW3 vehicles and V13.2.8 for HW4 models - but for the time being only with bug fixes and without major innovations in the autonomy area.
Does this update replace the previous FSD version?
It is still unclear whether this update will replace the previous FSD V12.5.4.2 as the new standard version. Tesla has the option of releasing different FSD updates in the same software version. It therefore remains to be seen whether non-FSD vehicles will also benefit from these improvements.
How do you get the latest FSD update?
There Tesla does not allow downgrades of software versions, users who are already on an older 2025.2 version can no longer revert to an earlier FSD version.
But good news for FSD subscribers: Anyone who upgrades to Full Self-Driving now will automatically receive the latest version with all the improvements.
