Tesla invites to FSD Early Access participation

Tesla takes another step towards autonomous driving: The company is now inviting eligible Tesla FSD owners in the USA to participate in the Early Access Program. This initiative now allows regular Tesla customers to test the latest Full Self-Driving updates early, before they are widely released.

What is the FSD Early Access Program?

The Early Access Program offers eligible owners the opportunity to participate in the latest beta updates of the FSD system. Unlike before, when this access was exclusively reserved for employees and influencers, regular Tesla drivers with the latest Hardware 4 (HW4) models and active FSD subscription or membership can now try out the new features.

Selected users can join the program via a new pop-up button in the Tesla app. This button appears at the bottom of the app, right next to the display of the VIN and software version – even if the pop-up notice is accidentally dismissed, the option to join at any time remains.

Participation Conditions and Privacy

To participate in the program, Tesla owners must have a vehicle with the AI4/Hardware 4 system. Vehicles with the older Hardware 3 are currently not eligible. Participants must be aware that Tesla conducts increased data, video, and audio monitoring in exchange for early access to the new FSD updates. All received release notes are tagged with the vehicle VIN to minimize data leaks. This restricts the privacy of individual users within the program.

Reasons for the Early Access Rollout

The expansion of the Early Access Program is a sign that Tesla is increasingly gaining confidence in its FSD technology – especially with regard to the planned launch of the unsupervised Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, in June 2025. By collecting user data from real road conditions early on, the FSD system is to be further refined and optimized. At the same time, Early Access updates are provided as less stable beta versions, so participants should remain particularly vigilant when using the system or allowing others to use it.

Conclusion

The new Tesla FSD Early Access Program now opens the door to the latest autonomous driving features for regular owners in the USA – provided they have an HW4 vehicle. With this initiative, Tesla is setting a strong signal for the further development of its FSD technology and the upcoming launch of the unsupervised Robotaxi service. Stay tuned if you want to be among the first to experience these groundbreaking updates!
