#1 best selling car in Europe for the Tesla Model 3!

There is good news for Tesla. With 23,013 new registrations in March 2022, the Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling new car in Europe, ahead of the Peugeot 208 (21,026). There were significant losses for other makes, including the Peugeot 208 (-17%), VW Golf (-36%), Toyota Yaris (-31%) and Opel Corsa (-36%). But there was also a decline in the Tesla Model 3. According to Jato, the decline in Tesla Model 3 registrations can be explained in part by the increasing popularity of the Tesla Model Y. The Tesla SUV secured third place overall. An important place, because the Tesla Model Y should become the best-selling vehicle of all classes worldwide in the next few years, announced Elon Musk. Thanks to these two models, Tesla has overtaken established brands such as Dacia, Citroën, Fiat and Nissan over the past month. In the ranking of all brands, Tesla took 18th place in the first quarter of 2022, catching up with Seat and ahead of Nissan. Tesla is still delivering vehicles heavily dependent on deliveries from China. This is usually concentrated at the end of the quarter. At Tesla, it is therefore important to see the quarterly or annual figures as a whole. However, this could change in the future with the Gigafactory Berlin. Vehicles can thus be delivered continuously. We can then observe this first with model Y.

In the published ranking of electric cars, the two Tesla models (Model 3: 23,013/ Model Y: 18,968) were followed by the small car Fiat 500 (6579), the compact SUV Kia Niro (5217) and the mid-range SUV VW ID.4 (5009). The small SUV Dacia Spring (3989) was a new addition to the European e-car top 10 in March. Here for the complete evaluation of Jato Dynamics.
