The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) recently published a recall for the Tesla models Model S, 3, X and Y built in 2021 and 2022. Inadequate cooling of the processors can lead to the failure of various vehicle systems. In Germany, the recall monitored by the KBA includes 14,804 vehicles. As a remedy, a software update is done to improve the CPU temperature. In its published letter, the KBA refers to an authorized workshop. But this is not necessary, as this problem can be solved “over the air” with a software update, as is known from Tesla.

This recall only affects vehicles with the new Ryzen processor. In the recent past there was already an over the air update for vehicles with this processor. As such, this current recall may no longer be relevant and may have already been resolved. Thanks to fast updates from Tesla, it is quite possible that the KBA is already lagging behind here.
