Tesla has announced a recall in Canada for certain models built between 2013 and 2024. The models affected are the Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y. The reason for this is a potential problem with the hood latch, which could increase the risk of an accident.
Possible dangers due to software errors
Tesla warns that the vehicle may not alert the driver if the hood is not fully closed. In the worst case scenario, the hood could open while driving, blocking the driver's view and significantly increasing the risk of a collision.
Tesla reacts quickly with software update
The company has already released an over-the-air software update to fix the problem. Tesla-Drivers should check whether their vehicles have software version 2024.20.3 or higher installed. If not, it is strongly recommended to perform the latest update. This process usually takes between 20 and 60 minutes.
What Tesla-owners should do now
- Check your software version: If your Tesla has version 2024.20.3 or higher, no further action is required.
- Install updateIf the update has not yet been installed, this should be done immediately.
- Inform the vehicle owner: Lessees must forward the recall notification to the vehicle user within 10 days. If the vehicle is no longer owned, the Tesla-account should be updated accordingly.
Tesla emphasizes safety priority
Although Tesla stresses that there have been no accidents or injuries related to this issue to date, all drivers are advised to keep their software up to date to minimize potential risks.
