In the midst of growing trade disputes between the USA and Canada the Canadian NDP leader Jagmeet Singh a 100 percent customs duty on Tesla-vehicles vehicles. At the same time, he wants the government purchase subsidy for electric vehicles produced in Canada. to 10.000 CAD double.
Why Tesla the focus is on
According to Singh, the demanded Tesla-tariff is aimed directly at Elon Muskwho has openly spoken out in favor of closer economic ties between the USA and Canada.

Conclusion: political signal or real threat for Tesla in Canada?
While Singh has tariff as retaliation for US trade measures this measure could hit Canadian car buyers in particular. The EV market in Canada is strong Tesla-dominatedand with a doubled price, many potential buyers would be forced to switch to other brands or combustion engines.
It remains to be seen whether the demand will actually be implemented - so far it has been a political demand without an official bill.
