Since the beginning of December, Tesla has been delivering the Tesla Semi truck to the first customers after a long time and several delays. But with exact details and specifications to the battery and the drive Tesla held back until now. Thanks to photos and a tweet from the governor of Nevada, Joe Lombardo, a first glimpse into the huge battery pack of the Tesla Semi could be seen. Interestingly, one of the photos the governor posted was taken with the Tesla Semi's 1000-volt battery pack in the foreground. Earlier leaks showed that the Tesla Semi is equipped with multiple battery modules arranged in a 3×3 pattern. Interestingly, the modular battery pack in the leaked graphics suggests that some sub-packs could easily be separated for shorter-range versions of the vehicle.
Some semi porn for those that need it on this New Years eve.

The modular battery is rated at 1000V
DUs are cooled with "mega cooling" modules.

We already reported recently on the expansion of the Nevada Gigafactory. The investment will add a Tesla Semi high-volume factory and a production line for 100 GWh 4680 cells to the existing plant. During the company's third quarter 2022 earnings conference call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the Semi, at least in its current version, does not yet use the company's 4680 cells. However, considering that the Nevada Gigafactory expansion will specifically include a 4680-cell production line, it appears that the Semi will also be upgraded to the new cells in the future.
Tesla's remarkable investment includes:
- Governor Joe Lombardo (@JosephMLombardo) January 25, 2023
- 4M sq ft of new manufacturing space
- 3,000 new additional employees
- 2 new manufacturing facilities: a 100 GWh 4680 cell factory & high-volume Semi factory
Thank you for believing in Nevada, @Tesla! #TheNevadaWay pic.twitter.com/IXJrCodk0f
