New prices on the Tesla Superchargers. After Tesla announced a price adjustment at midnight in the navigation system yesterday during the day, new prices for superchargers in Europe have been in effect since today. It was only on October 11, 2022 that Tesla introduced variable charging prices at certain times, thereby also increasing the prices to around 0.74 euros/kWh during the day. With the new price update, the prices at the respective locations vary even more than before. A look at the prices along a planned route is definitely worthwhile.

It is noticeable that Tesla has significantly reduced the time of the expensive charging tariff in Germany. Before the price adjustment, it was possible to charge at a reduced rate, especially between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. After the current price adjustment, you benefit from the reduced charging rate between 8 p.m. and 4 p.m. Only in the period from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. is it charged at a higher price. The energy requirement is probably the highest in Germany at this time, so you can try to charge the electric car at other times. Depending on the location, the discount time in Germany is between 0.62 and 0.68 euros/kWh. In the main time, charging is significantly more expensive at 0.70 to 0.75 euros/kWh.

Prices were also adjusted overnight in other European countries. In the Netherlands, for example, prices continued to fall to between 0.51 and 0.59 euros/kWh, while in Italy they continued to rise to between 0.60 and 0.67 euros/kWh. In Denmark, too, prices have fallen noticeably to around 3.2-4 crowns/kWh from over 5 crowns/kWh.

So it remains interesting to see how variable the prices remain at different times. For many Tesla owners, the prices will probably continue to be too high. With monthly subscriptions in particular, charging is significantly cheaper with other providers. However, Tesla can score with simple, fast and very well-functioning charging stations.
