Tesla Semi production has started. Tesla plans to produce up to 50,000 vehicles in 2024!

After a long wait and several postponements, production of the "Tesla Semi" electric truck is finally starting. The first vehicles are then to be delivered to Pepsi on December 01, 2022. On the last earnings call a few days ago, Elon Musk revealed that, as with previous Tesla vehicles, about a year is needed to ramp up production to the desired level. However, that shouldn't mean production will be slow. According to Tesla chief Elon Musk, about 50,000 Tesla Semi per year should be produced in 2024, at least that is the target for 2024 in North America.

Tesla would like to offer an electric truck Tesla Semi in other markets as well. This could then involve variants adapted for the respective market in order to meet local requirements. Most likely, the Tesla Semi would be produced locally, so we are talking about a possible new electric truck factory in Europe or Asia, according to Elon Musk.

The Tesla Semi produced initially will have a range of 800 kilometers (500 miles) on charge. Elon Musk makes extra note during the earnings call that these values refer to measurements with a load. That's a great range for a vehicle with a total weight of 37,195 kg when fully loaded. Later, there will also be a version with a smaller battery pack and a range of 483 kilometers (300 miles).

It will remain exciting in the coming months to see how the development of the Tesla Semi continues and what initial customer experience data is like. It is not yet known when exactly the Tesla Semi will come to Europe.
