The time has come: on Platform X and in various forums, the first indications are emerging that some early Cybertruck reservers have received an email from Tesla with the subject "Preparing for delivery", suggesting that Tesla could deliver the new Cybertruck earlier than planned. It was only on November 30, 2023 that the Cybertruck was celebrated at the delivery event and handed over to the first selected VIPs. The question of how quickly the general public would receive their Cybertruck initially remained unanswered. In the past, these first delivery emails did not necessarily mean that the vehicles would arrive immediately, but that delivery could take weeks or months. With the Cybertruck, however, this could be different, as the American Cybertruckownersclub reports on a table in which the Cybertruck orders placed can be tracked and some of them allegedly show delivery dates from December.
It appears that these notifications mainly concern orders for the exclusive "Foundation Series", which are fully equipped and only available in limited quantities. In the past, Tesla has referred to similar limited pre-release versions of its vehicles such as the Roadster, S and X as the "Founders" or "Signature" series. This practice was discontinued for the Model 3 and the Model Y but will be resumed for the Cybertruck.
The vehicles with December dates are mainly in Texas and California. It is likely that Tesla wants to accelerate deliveries towards the end of the quarter in order to deliver some of the coveted Cybertrucks to their owners before the end of the quarter and year. Such accelerated deliveries at the end of the quarter are not uncommon at Tesla. It remains to be seen whether a significant number of Cybertrucks will actually be delivered to the public by the end of the year. However, given the fact that some initial interested parties have already come forward and some Cybertruck owners are not directly talking about their order in online forums, a "wave" of deliveries could be imminent.
