Tesla has a new Service Bulletin for the models Model S (2012-2021) and Model X (2015-2021) have been issued in Norway. The background to this is a potential problem with the rear lower wishboneswhich can be caused by water ingress. Although the Norwegian authorities are not demanding an official recall following an investigation Tesla wants to ensure safety and driving quality through targeted inspections and possible repairs.
What is the problem?
According to Service Bulletin SB-25-31-002, the affected vehicles may experience Water ingress into the rear lower wishbones may occur. This could lead to:

one misalignment of the rear suspension,

as well as an impairment of the driving comfort.
Inspection and possible measures
Tesla-Service centers in Norway have been instructed to inspect vehicles in a raised condition. Technicians check for:

- salt deposits,
- Rust on the plugs of the wishbones.
If only slight deposits are detected, replace the Tesla replace the plugs. However, if rust or water damage recognizable, both rear wishbones (left and right) are replaced by more robust versions to ensure a balanced suspension.
Background to the investigation
Following several reports of sudden defects in the rear wishbones in 2022, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) investigated the incidents. The authority found that most of the defects occurred in at low speeds or when reversing and therefore did not pose a significant safety risk.
