Tesla will soon be offering range upgrades for Model Y rear-wheel drive owners

Tesla Model Y-Owners who recently purchased a rear-wheel drive version in the US will soon be able to buy a previously software-locked range upgrade, according to a recent comment from Musk on X. Tesla On Friday evening, the company introduced the new "Long Range with rear-wheel drive" variant in the USA, which replaces the previous rear-wheel drive version. Although Tesla recently introduced this new variant in other countries, it has not replaced the previous entry-level variant with the new one, as is now the case in the USA. This upgrade will probably only be available for the USA for the time being; it remains to be seen if and when other countries will follow suit.

The statement was made in response to a post by the well-known Sawyer Merritt in an article about the new version of the Model Yin which commentator Musk said that the cars produced in the last few months Model Y RWD units will have access to the software-enabled range upgrade, depending on the battery cells included. Although he said that Tesla still working on regulatory approval for the range upgrade, he noted that owners will soon have the option to pay between $1,500 and $2,000 to unlock the range upgrade, which will be available to the Model Y effectively adds between 40 and 60 miles. The range upgrade would make the Model Y effectively to the level or close to the level of the newly launched version, which has an estimated range of 320 miles per charge.

The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling vehicle in the world last year, making it the Tesla is very proud of and proactively advertises it.
