We summarize all the innovations and compare the Model Y L with the regular Model Y and the Model X.

  • New 19-inch aero wheels

  • Model Y: 76 cu ft

  • Model Y L: 89.6 cu ft

  • Model X: 94.5 cu ft

New: Magnetic closure in the underfloor compartment, so that the cover stays open when you fold it up.

  • Model Y L: 18 speakers

Price and Market Launch

  • In China: from ¥339,000 (~47,200 USD / ~43,500 EUR)

  • Around 4,000 USD more expensive than the Model Y AWD

  • Expected US price: approx. 52,000–54,000 USD

  • First deliveries in China: from next month

  • Europe: Prototypes have already been spotted in Germany – production start is likely to follow soon.

Conclusion

The Tesla Model Y L is more than just an extended Model Y with six seats. With ventilated rear seats, a stronger wireless charger, new safety features, and more storage space, it sets standards in its class – and could even rival the Model X with its price-performance ratio.
