Tesla introduces “Luxe Package” for Model S and Model X – prices increase

Tesla has raised the prices for the Model S and Model X by 10,000 USD each, along with the introduction of a new Luxe Package. The package aims to convince buyers with an all-inclusive offer, but it also brings a higher entry price for all interested parties.

Contents of the Luxe Package

The new package bundles several features and services that were previously available individually:

  • Full Self-Driving (FSD): Tesla's driver assistance software worth around 8,000 USD.

  • Four years of premium service: Includes rim and tire protection, windshield protection, and recommended maintenance. The value amounts to several thousand dollars.

  • Lifetime free supercharging: A rare Tesla bonus. Depending on driving performance, this can save several hundred dollars per year.

  • Premium connectivity included: Normally 99 USD per year. Over five years, this adds up to about 495 dollars.

On paper, the total value of the Luxe Package significantly exceeds the surcharge. However, it is not optional – every order of a Model S or Model X now includes this package.

Differences from previous offers

Previously, Tesla offered free upgrades like premium wheels or the 6-seat configuration for the Model X with the purchase of FSD. This option is now eliminated, as FSD is included in the Luxe Package. For new customers, the package appears less flexible.

The currently possible free transfer of FSD is also restricted with the mandatory package binding.

Price differences compared to existing vehicles

For those who do not want to use the Luxe Package, there is currently another option: Model S and X from the 2025 stock are still available without the Luxe Package.

Examples:

  • A new Model X AWD with Luxe starts at 99,990 USD. A 2025 model without Luxe is around 77,000 USD.

  • The 6-seat version of the Model X costs 111,990 USD as a 2026 model with Luxe, while the 2025 counterpart is around 90,980 USD – also with FSD.

The differences are significant, especially for buyers who do not need all the contents of the Luxe Package.

Why Tesla is introducing the Luxe Package

With the introduction of the Luxe Package, Tesla wants to further differentiate the Model S/X from the rest of the model range. Background: The new Model Y L with a third row of seats will soon be available worldwide and could directly compete with the Model X in terms of price.

The Luxe Package is intended to emphasize the premium claim of Model S and Model X. Whether it convinces customers depends heavily on the value they place on the included services – especially the free supercharging.

Conclusion

The Luxe Package offers a lot of equipment and services for Model S and Model X, but also a significant price increase. Buyers should carefully consider how much they will actually use the included services. For those interested in a more affordable entry, looking at the still available inventory vehicles without Luxe could be an attractive option.
