Tesla brings Full Self-Driving to Europe: Website update indicates imminent launch

Will Tesla FSD in Europe finally become a reality? Over the weekend, Tesla quietly revised its country pages – a clear signal that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is set to launch in some EU markets by 2025. Find out what exactly is behind the update and what hurdles remain here.

What has Tesla changed?

  • New FSD country pages for Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and others.

  • Unified layout like in Canada and the USA with local language & prices

  • Highlighted key figures:

    • 3.8 billion FSD miles in real operation

    • 54% fewer accidents than human drivers

    • Training data equivalent to 100+ driving years every 10 minutes

Why is this important?

  • Regulatory milestone: The EU regulation DCAS Phase 3 allows US safety data to be introduced into the European process – a turbo for approval.

  • Test countries: The Netherlands, Norway, and Germany are expected first; the Dutch authority RDW is considered a pilot instance for the EU.

  • Marketing preparation: Tesla accounts in Amsterdam, Rome, Paris, and Berlin are already sharing FSD demo videos on X – typically a precursor for early beta launches.

Hurdles before roll-out

Challenge Status Outlook
EU data protection & camera recordings Local storage & anonymization needed Tesla works on edge processing solutions
Local lane markings & traffic signs FSD was trained on 3.8 billion miles, but EU signs differ OTA updates with specific datasets
Legal framework per country Homologation must be done individually RDW approval could serve as a blueprint

What does this mean for drivers?

  • Beta Availability: First for selected "Early Access" owners, similar to North America.

  • Feature Scope: Autonomous navigation from A to B, automatic turning, traffic light & stop sign recognition.

  • Cost: The FSD purchase price is initially expected to be around 12,000 €; monthly subscription from approx. 199 €.

Outlook
Tesla is already planning the next step: FSD (Unsupervised) – the basis for the Cybercab Robotaxi Service. If EU approval goes smoothly, we could see the first driverless Teslas on European roads by 2026. Until then, it remains exciting to see which country will give the green light first – the signs point to the Netherlands.
