Tesla expands Car Wash Mode with window warnings

With the software update 2025.26, Tesla introduced a small but extremely practical improvement for the Car Wash Mode: From now on, the vehicle warns if a window is opened during the wash mode - thus protecting against an involuntary interior cleaning.

What does the Car Wash Mode do?

The Car Wash Mode facilitates car wash visits by automatically deactivating wipers, setting the air conditioning to recirculation, turning off parking alerts, and closing all windows. However, there was a gap: If a window was opened after activation, no warning appeared - unlike with an open trunk or charge port.

New feature with update 2025.26

With the current update, the Car Wash Mode now also continuously monitors the windows continuously. If a window is opened, a clear message appears on the display, e.g., "Rear right window opened." If multiple windows are open, the vehicle shows the number or reports "All windows opened."

This is particularly helpful for families - as it is often children who accidentally lower a window.

Why this is important

An open window in the car wash can quickly lead to costly water damage. The new warning function thus offers an additional safety and comfort factor.

Direct implementation of customer feedback

The idea originally came from a Tesla owner who wanted such a feature. Tesla manager Troy Jones forwarded the suggestion to the development team - and just a few months later it was implemented.

This quick response shows how closely Tesla integrates feedback from the community into the development of new features.
