On December 20, 2023, we already reported that, according to a document, the new Tesla Model 3 “Highland" had received certification for a future over-the-air (OTA) update, which means activation for adaptive headlights/high beams (matrix light). The document already indicated that the new Model 3 will be the only model to receive this function, at least for the time being, as other models do not appear there.
Now the time seems to have come and Tesla is starting to roll out the latest software update 2024.2 first Model 3 “Highland". A user in the German Tesla Fahrer und Freunde Forum (TFF) has posted an excerpt from the release notes:
The high beams now adjust to reduce glare for other drivers and cyclists. By recognizing other road users and selectively dimming individual pixels of the headlights, the high beams can stay on longer, allowing for better visibility at night. To switch it on, go to Lighting > Adaptive high beam in your vehicle settings.
The user writes further in the forum that he drove after the update and found the Model 3 actually fades out vehicles individually. So far there are no other confirmed cases, photos or videos. It therefore remains to be seen to what extent this statement proves to be true and when other vehicles will receive this update.
