Extended delivery times for the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y!
Since yesterday, the delivery times for the Model 3 and Model Y have been updated on the Tesla homepage. The special thing about it is that Tesla no longer specifies a delivery month, but only quarterly delivery periods. The maximum delivery time is when ordering the Model 3 Standard Range & Long Range with white paintwork, black seats and 18 inch rims. A delivery period from April - June 2023 is shown here, which means that the delivery time is more than 1 year. Even if you order a Model 3 with a different color, white seats and 19-inch rims, the delivery time is January - March 2023. Only the Model 3 Performance is still coming in 2022, because the delivery time is given as September - November 2022. With the Tesla Model Y , the delivery times are even more variable. A closer look reveals that each color has an individual delivery period. It is noticeable here, however, that the Model Y Long Range & Performance is expected to be delivered this year. Only the colors red and deep blue are specified with a delivery period of January - March 2023. So you can see that the demand for Tesla models has increased enormously and is not flattening out. But of course delays caused by the global corona crisis and the Ukraine crisis also play a role here. In an interview between Elon Musk and the Future of the car yesterday, Elon Musk indicated that the demand for the Tesla models is greater than the current supply. Elon Musk also indicated in the interview that, if in doubt, Tesla would consider stopping orders for a certain period of time in order to be able to service all outstanding orders. Elon Musk does not announce when this order freeze could come and how long it will last. With such long delivery times, Tesla is not alone in the car market. Other manufacturers have had delivery times of more than 12 months for several months or have temporarily stopped taking orders.
